その結果が現代なのだが、私たちは現在日本人としてのアイデンティティーを見つけることが困難になってしまっている。

The result is that nowadays, it is difficult for us to find our identity as modern Japanese people.

確かに近代化は重要だが、そのために日本の文化、歴史、起源を無理やりかき消そうとするのは賢明な行為とはいえない。
Tashika ni kindai-ka wa juuyoudaga, sonotame ni nihon no bunka, rekishi, kigen wo muriyari kakikesou to suru no wa kenmeina koui to ha ienai.
Modernization is surely important, but it is not a wise act to forcibly erase Japanese culture, history and origin.

I think recognizing your origin and being conscious of your ancestors are essential to establish yourself.
私は西洋文化がすべて勝っていると考えることによって、自国の根本を軽く扱うことは問題だと思う。
Watashi wa seiyou bunka ga subete katte iru to kangaeru koto ni yotte, jikoku no konpon wo karuku atsukau koto wa mondaida to omou.
By thinking that western culture is winning everything, I think it’s a problem of my country that we lighten the roots.
