The N2 JLPT Structure and goal of each section.
Level N2 is the second highest level in the JLPT system (after only N1). Level N2 is used to assess the ability to read and comprehend abstract and figurative sentences, passages, written about a relatively vast variety of subjects in daily life. Level N2 is the level that once you are at it, you can receive a lot of advantage (assistance from company, job opportunity in Japan).
Thus, there are many people take N2. To assist you in practising N2, in this article, LearnJapanesedaily will introduce to you the N2 JLPT structure and goal of each section.
The N4 JLPT Structure consists of 2 main sections
- Language knowledge comprises of vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension (time frame: 105 minutes)
- Listening comprehension (time frame: 50 minutes)
Each section will then be divided into smaller segments:
1. Language knowledge – 3 segments
1.1. Moji – Goi (vocabulary and writing)
Vocabulary and writing comprises of 6 types of questions.
– Goal: Assessing reading Kanji ability.
– Number of questions: About 5.
For example:
1.1.1. Convert to Kanji
– Goal: Assessing the ability to write Hiragana using Kanji.
– Number of questions: About 6.

1.1.2. Forming sentences
– Goal: Assessing reading comprehension in a context.
– Number of questions: About 5.

1.1.3. Fill words in a context
– Goal: Assessing the ability to select words in a context.
– Number of questions: About 7.
For example:
1.1.4. Change ways of speaking
– Goal: Assessing the ability to choose a synonym for the underlined word.
– Number of question: About 5.

– Goal: Assessing the ability to select words in reality.

It doesn’t say how many passages or passages per question. Some reading parts of the exam, there are 3 questions for each passage (which i am trying to look for but taking a long time to find) but this feels like there’s 1 question for each passage which is inaccurate. Would be helpful to include this.
as you said, some reading parts especially long ones have more than one questions.
