JLPT N4 Grammar lesson 8. Hi everyone! In this article, LearnJapanesedaily will introduce to you the JLPT N4 Grammar. Each lesson will consist of about 5 structures for you to learn step by step and have more time to practice.

Grammar structure number 36 :

~ところに/ところへ~

Formation :

Vる/Vた + ところに/ところへ

Explanation :

right when, meanwhile, while…

Example and meaning :

1.シャワーを浴(あ)びるところにベールが鳴(な)いてしまう。
While I am about to take a bath , the doorbell rang.
2.仕事(しごと)をしたところへ思(おも)わぬ邪魔(じゃま)が入(はい)った
While I was working, an unexpected obstacle came up.

Grammar structure number 37 :

~と思(おも)う

Formation :

Vる/Vよう+とおもう

Explanation :

going to do something
this structure is only used for 1st person and is used to express the future plans has already been made before the speaking point.

Example and meaning :

1.来週(らいしゅう)出張(しゅっちょう)をするとおもう。
I’m going on a business trip next week.
2.夏休(なつやす)み山(やま)に登(のぼ)りに行(い)こうとおもう。
I’m going on a hike this summer.

Grammar structure number 38 :

~ないで~

Formation :

Vないで

Explanation :

Don’t do something.

Mostly used in spoken form.

Example and meaning :

1.泣な)(かないで笑(わら)ってください。
Don’t cry but smile.
2.ここで泳(およ)がないで汚(きたな)いでしょ。
Don’t swim here it’s dirty.

Grammar structure number 39 :

~ながら~

Formation :

Vます( remove ます)+ながら

Explanation :

…while..while
express two actions happen at the same time

Example and meaning :

1.音楽(おんがく)をききながら、勉強(べんきょう)します。
I listen to music while studying.

2.テレビを見(み)ながら、ごはんを食(た)べた
I eat rice while watching TV.

Grammar structure number 40 :

~なさい~

Formation :

ますなさい

Explanation :

command somebody to do something.

Example and meaning :

1.牛乳(ぎゅうにゅう)を飲(の)みなさい。
Drink your milk.
2.すぐ起(お)きなさいよ
Wake up immediately.
