Meaning and how to use :
To give advice “do or don’t”. When going with たform it means highly advice.
For example
病気に気を付けたら、医者に診てもらった方がいい。
Byouki ni ki o tsuke tara, isha ni mi te moratta hou ga ii.
You should visit doctor if you are diagnosed the disease.
このことなら両親と相談した方がいいと思う。
kono koto nara ryoushin to soudan shi ta hou ga ii to omou.
If it’s that matter, I think you should talk to parents.
勝手に行動しない方がいいですよ。
katte ni koudou shi nai hou ga ii desu yo.
Don’t do without requesting.
知識を広げるために、本をたくさん読む方がいいね。
chishiki o hirogeru tame ni, hon o takusan yomu hou ga ii ne.
To open up our mind, we should read many books.
お金を貯めるために、贅沢な生活をしない方がいい。
okane o tameru tame ni, zeitaku na seikatsu o shi nai hou ga ii.
To save money, we shouldn’t squander your money.
Note: Can only be combined with ない form, not ないpast form: 「なかった」
