JLPT N3 Grammar lesson 3. Hi everyone! In this article, LearnJapanesedaily will introduce you to the JLPT N3 Grammar.

Let’s take a look at the next 5 structures.

Structure 11 :



To wish, hope ~ advise.
To show a purpose, normally used with modal verbs of possibility.

For example:

Minna ni kikoeru youni, motto ookii koe de hanashite kudasai.
Talk louder so everyone can hear.

Wasurenai youni, techou ni kaite okou.
Write down on a note book to not forget.

Structure 12 :



To become, to change the state.
Used to show the change of state of things.

For example:

このDVD プレーヤーを直してもらったから、使えるようになった。
Kono DVD pureeyaa o naoshite moratta kara, tsukaeru youni natta.
Due to him fixing the DVD player, it’s now usable (changed from an unusable to a usable state).

Koko no denki wa hito ga tooru to, tsuku youni natte imasu.
Everytime there is a person passing by, this light is turned on.

Structure 13 :



According to.
Used to start a story.
Verbs usually used in this structure: 書いてある、言う、聞く…


Minasan gozonji no youni, shiken ga kawarimasu.
Like everybody already knows, the exam will have some changes.

Koko ni kaite aru youni, kondo no mokuyoubi, jugyou wa gozenchuu dake desu.
As written above, this Thursday, the lesson will be on morning only.

前に話ししたように 来年から授業料が値上がりします。
Mae ni hanashi shita youni rainen kara jugyouryou ga neagari shimasu.
Like it has been said before, the tuition fee will be raised starting from next year.

Structure 14 :



Let’s (do the action V).
Used at the end of a sentence, to show an order (subtle), not directly.
This structure used to show an even more subtle order than : Vてください and Vなさい

For example:

Ashita wa motto hayaku kuru youni.
Remember to come earlier tomorrow.
Hai, wakarimashita.
Yes, I understood.

Kokode tabako o suwanai youni.
Please don’t smoke here!

Structure 15 :



To wish, hope, pray ~
To show the speaker’s hope wishfully.

For example: 

Goukaku shimasu youni.
Hope I will pass the exam!

Haha no byouki ga naorimasu youni.
Pray for my mom’s disease to go way!

Infuruenza ni kakarimasen youni.
Hope I won’t catch avian influenza.
