Structure 126 :

決して＋Vない／Aくない／Aなー＞でない／Nでない

Explanation:

never, in no way

For example:

私は決してゴミを川に捨てません。
Watashi wa kesshite gomi wo kawa ni sutemasen.
I never throw trash into the rivers.

「嘘は決して申しません」と彼は言った。
“Uso wa kesshite moushimasen” to kare wa itta.
“I never tell a lie”, he said.

Structure 127:

まったく＋Vない／Aくない／Aなー＞でない

Explanation:

not ~ at all

For example:

昨日は全く寝れない。
Kinou wa mattaku nerenai.
I couldn’t sleep at all yesterday.

私は全くフランス語がわからない。
Watashi wa mattaku Furansugo ga wakaranai.
I don’t understand French at all.

Structure 128 :

N はめったにない
めったに Vない

Explanation:

seldom, rarely

For example:

彼女はめったに笑わない。
Kanojo wa mettani warawanai.
She rarely smiles.

私はめったに映画を見ない。
Watashi wa mettani eiga wo minai.
I rarely watch movies.

Structure 129 :

少／ちっとも＋Vない／Aくない／Aなー＞でない

Explanation:

not ~ even a little, not ~ at all

For example:

この話は少しも楽しくない。
Kono hanashi wa sukoshi mo tanoshikunai.
This story is not fun at all.

私はちっとも疲れていない。
Watashi wa chittomo tsukarete inai.
I’m not tired at all.

Structure 130 :

Sentence＋それと＋Sentence
Sentence＋あと＋Sentence

Explanation:

and then, and, also

For example:

レタス一つとトマトを３個ください。それと、ピーマンも１袋ください。
Retasu hitotsu to tomato o 3-ko kudasai. Soreto, piiman mo 1-fukuro kudasai.
Please give me 1 lettuce and 3 tomatoes. And please give me a bag of peppers.

切符をかばんに入れてね。あと、傘を忘れないで。
Kippu wo kaban ni irete ne. Ato, kasa wo wasurenaide.
Put the ticket in your bag. Also, don’t forget your umbrella.

「今日はこれで全員かな」
「あと、田中さんが来ると思います」
Kyou wa korede zen’in kana.
Ato, Tanaka-san ga kuru to omoimasu.
“They are all members for today, right?”
“I think Tanaka will also come.”

Structure 131 :

Sentence? + それとも ＋ Sentence?

Explanation:

Or

For example:

青いシャツを買いますか。それとも赤いシャツを買いますか。
Aoi shatsu wo kaimasuka. Soretomo akai shatsu wo kaimasuka.
Will you buy the blue shirt? Or the red shirt?

バスで行きますか。それともタクシーで行きますか。
Basu de ikimasuka. Soretomo takushii de ikimasuka.
Will you go by bus? Or by taxi? 

話し合って決めましょうか。それとも私が決めてしまってもいいですか。
Hanashiatte kimemashouka. Soretomo watashi ga kimete shimattemo ii desuka.
Shall we discuss and decide it? Or may I decide it?”

Structure 132 :

Sentence＋その上＋Sentence

Explanation:

Furthermore, in addition

For example:

このアパートは駅から近い。その上家賃も安い。
Kono apaato wa eki kara chikai. Sono ue yachin mo yasui.
This apartment is close to the station. Furthermore, the rent is also cheap.

この花は美しい。その上いい香りがする。
Kono hana wa utsukushii. Sono ue ii kaori ga suru.
This flower is beautiful. Furthermore, it smells good.
