JLPT N2 Grammar lesson 5. Hi everyone! In this article, LearnJapanesedaily will introduce to you the JLPT N2 Grammar. Each lesson will consist of about 5 structures for you to learn step by step and have more time to practise.
Structure 21:
Vてはならない
Explanation:
Must not do something.
For example:
写真を撮ってはならない。
Shashin wo totte wa naranai.
You must not take pictures.
お金を無駄に使ってはなりません。
Okane wo muda ni tsukatte wa narimasen.
You must not waste your money.
Structure 22 :
VてはいられないVてられないVてらんない
Explanation:
Can’t do something.
For example:
私たちは落ち込んではいられない。
Watashitachi wa ochikonde wa irarenai.
We can’t be depressed.
私は彼がしたことを黙ってはいられない。
Watashi wa kare ga shita koto wo damatte wa irarenai.
I can’t keep silent about what he did.
Structure 23 :
Vてばかりは + いられない
Vてばかりも + いられない
Explanation:
It’s not good to do only V.
For example:
連休だけれど、もうすぐ試験があるから、遊んでばかり入られない。
Renkyuuda keredo, mousugu shiken ga aru kara, asonde bakari irarenai.
Even though it’s a holiday, I’m having an exam so it’s not good to only play.
もう黙ってばかりはいられない。
Mou damatte bakari wa irarenai.
I can’t keep silent anymore.
Structure 24 :
Vる/ Vた/ Nの+かいがある/かいあって
Explanation:
It’s worth it ~
For example:
時間がかかりますが、待つかいがあります。
Jikan ga kakarimasu ga, matsu kai ga arimasu.
It takes time, but it’s worth waiting for.
毎日一生懸命勉強したかいあって、試験に合格した。
Mainichi isshoukenmei benkyou shita kai atte, shiken ni goukaku shita.
It was worth studying hard everyday as I passed the exam.
Structure 25:
Vた/ Nの+かいがない/かい（も）なく～
Explanation:
It’s not worth it ~
For example:
この漫画は面白くない。買ったかいがなかった。
Kono manga wa omoshirokunai. Katta kai ga nakatta.
This manga is not interesting. It was not worth buying.
貯金したかいもなく、全部盗まれてしまった。
Chokin shita kai mo naku, zenbu nusumarete shimatta.
It was not worth saving money as everything was stolen.
