JLPT N2 Grammar lesson 4. Hi everyone! In this article, LearnJapanesedaily will introduce to you the JLPT N2 Grammar. Each lesson will consist of about 5 structures for you to learn step by step and have more time to practise.

Structure 16 :

Aくない/ A ( minus な) じゃない/ Vない/ Vられない + ことはない

It’s not that…
Usually used to negate the former idea.

For example:

It’s not that I can’t eat it, I just don’t like it.

Giving up on smoking and drinking is hard, but not impossible.

Structure 17 :

Aくない/ A ( minus な) じゃない/ Vない/ Vられない + こともない

It’s not that…
This is a double negative.

For example:

Memorizing 4 or 5 kanji is not that impossible.

It’s not that I don’t understand the feelings of those who left the company (I understand).

Structure 18 :

It’s impossible to not do V, annoyed if not doing V.

For example:

About staff who have bad attitudes, it’s impossible for me to not complain.

The noise from the construction site is really loud, it’s impossible for me to not cover my ears.

Structure 19 :

V  ( minus ない) →Vずにはいられない

Can’t stop / impossible to not. Similar to structure 18 but rarely used when speaking.

For example:

Everytime There is something bothers me at work, I can’t stop myself from drinking.

When watching that movie, it might be impossible to not be touched for everyone.

Structure 20 :

Vない → Vねば+ ならない
しない → せねば+ ならない

Have to do something

For example:

Because my visa has expired, I have to return to my country.

I have to confirm if it’s true.
