JLPT N2 Grammar lesson 19. Hi everyone! In this article, LearnJapanesedaily will introduce to you the JLPT N2 Grammar. Each lesson will consist of about 5 structures for you to learn step by step and have more time to practise.

Structure 91:

Vるの/ Aいの/ Aなの + も/は + もっともだ。


Of course ~

For example:

Kimi ga uragitta nodakara, kanojo ga okoru no mo mottomoda.
You are a betrayer, of course she will be mad.

Anata ga sou iu no wa mottomoda.
You talk as it has to be like that.

Structure 92:

Vるも/N (も)/ないも + 同然(どうぜん)だ。


Almost (It’s not the exact same thing, but almost like that).

For example:

Kono kuruma wa chuukosha to ittemo shinpin douzenda.
This car, despite being an old car, it’s almost as good as a new car.

Kare no zaisan wa nai mo douzenda.
He has almost no property.

Strucure 93:

V/ A/ N (short form) + だけましだ


At least, luckily.
Used to show a not-so-good situation but at least it’s not the worst.

For example:

Kimi wa shigoto ga aru dake mashida yo. Ore wa kubi ni natte shimatta.
At least you still have a job, I just got fired.

Kyuuryou ga hetta keredo, kubi ni naranai dake mashida.
Even though my salary is cut down, but at least didn’t get fired.

Boku no apaato wa, semakute takai keredo, benrina dake mashida.
Even though my flat is small and expensive, but at least it’s convenient.

Structure 94:

V/ A/ N (short form) + だけあって/だけに/だけのことはある


Because ….
To emphasize a particular quality, characteristic.

For example:

Koko wa ichiryuu hoteru dake atte kaiteki datta.
Because this is a first class hotel, it’s very comfortable.

Kono baggu wa yasui dake ni suguni kowarete shimatta.
This bag is broken because it’s cheap.

Kono isu wa joubuda. Takakatta dake no koto wa aru.
This chair is very stable because it’s expensive.

Structure 95:

A ばかりか/ばかりでなく B も


Not only a but also b.

For example:

Ano hito wa gakkou no seiseki ga ii bakari ka supootsu mo dekiru.
That person doesn’t only have good grades but also plays sports.

Kono arari wa, kuuki bakari de naku mizu mo osen sarete iru.
This area, not only the air is polluted but the water is also polluted.
