男の学生と女の学生が、バイトについて話しています。女の学生は、どうしてバイトをやめましたか。

男 : バイト、どう？うまくいってる？

女 : あ、あれね、やめたの。

男 : え？なんで？気に入ってたんじゃないの？

女 : うん…時給はまあまあだったし、家から近かったから良かったんだけどね。

男 : 仕事、大変だったの？

女 : お客さん多い店だから、大変といえば大変だったけど、それは大したことなかったし…。実は先輩がね…。

男 : あー人間関係が原因かー。いじめられたのか。

女 : そういうわけじゃないの。プライベートなことをあれこれ聞いてきて…メールも１日に何回も来るし、うるさくってしょうがなくて…。

女の学生はどうしてバイトをやめましたか。

１．仕事が大変だったから。

２・うるさい客が多いから。

３．先輩にいじめられたから。

４．先輩がしつこいから。

Vocabulary :

人間関係 : human relations, personal relationships

プライベート : private, (one’s) privacy

しつこい : insistent, obstinate, persistent

Translation for Reference :

A male student and a female student are talking about part-time jobs. Why did the female student quit her part-time job?

Man : How is your part-time job? Are you doing well?

Woman : Oh, I quit it.

Man : Eh? Why? Didn’t you like it?

Woman : Yeah… The hourly wage was okay and it was close to my house but…

Man : Was the work hard?

Woman : It was quite hard since the store was always full of customers, but it was not a big deal… Actually, my senior…

Man : Oh, Is it because of personal relationships? Were you bullied?

Woman : No, it’s not that. The senior asked me a lot of private things… I also received a lot of emails in a day… It was annoying, so there’s no other way…

Question: Why did the female student quit her part-time job?

1.Because the work was hard.

2.Because there are many noisy customers.

3.Because she was bullied by the senior.

4. Because the senior is persistent.

In order to understand and do this form of exercise effectively, you can apply the following steps:

1. Catch the topic and the question :

The situation taking place here is:

男の学生と女の学生が、バイトについて話しています。

A male student and a female student are talking about part-time jobs.

=> The topic: Part-time job

The question is:

女の学生は、どうしてバイトをやめましたか。

Why did the female student quit her part-time job?

2. Note the main ideas:

According to the topic, you should focus on important key words relating to the part-time job.

気に入る（きにいる）　: to like

仕事が大変 （しごとがたいへん）: work is hard

大したことはない （たいしたことはない）: it is not a big deal

先輩 （せんぱい）: senior

人間関係 （にんげんかんけい）: human relations, personal relationships

原因 （げんいん）: cause

うるさい : noisy, annoying

しょうがない : There’s no other way

3. Choosing the answer:

According to the key words : The male student guessed why the female student quit her part-time job : 気に入ってたんじゃないの (Didn’t you like it?) , 仕事が大変 (work is hard), いじめられたの (were you bullied?), but the female student said that it was not that. Then she talked about the senior who bothered her.

So we choose answer 4. 先輩がしつこいから
