JLPT N3 Grammar lesson 24. Hi everyone! In this article, Learn Japanese daily will introduce you to the JLPT N3 Grammar.

Let’s take a look at the next 5 structures.

Structure 116 :

(VることはVる)/(AいことはAい)/(AなことはAだ)+が/けれど

Explanation:

But ~
To admit something but not positively, thoroughly.

For example:

ピアノは弾けることは弾けますが、うまくありません。
Piano wa hikeru koto wa hikemasu ga, umaku arimasen.
I can play Piano but not excellent.

このバッグ、高いことは高いけれど、使いやすいです。
Kono baggu, takai koto wa takai keredo, tsukai yasui desu.
This bag, is expensive but easy to use.

Structure 117:

Aくない/Aじゃない/Vない/Vられない+ことはない

Explanation:

It’s possible that ~, it’s not impossible that ~

For example:

鶏肉は食べないことはないですが、あまり好きではありません。
Toriniku wa tabenai koto wa naidesuga, amari sukidewa arimasen.
It’s not that I don’t eat chicken, but I don’t like it much.

「走れば、間に合わないことはないよ。急ごう!」
Hashireba, maniawanai koto wa nai yo. Isogou!
If we run, it’s not impossible to catch up. Hurry up!

Structure 118 :

Vたところ

Explanation:

(Have) Just…

For example:

先生に今度のテストの範囲を聞いたところ、10課までだと言われた。
Sensei ni kondo no tesuto no han’i o kiita tokoro, 10-ka madeda to iwareta.
I have just asked teacher about limitation of the next exam, he said it is to unit 10.

歯が痛いので、歯医者に行ったところ、ひどい虫歯になっていたと言われた。
Ha ga itai node, haisha ni itta tokoro, hidoi mushiba ni natte ita to iwareta.
My teeth hurt so I have just met with the dentist. The dentist said I had dental caries.

Structure 119 :

Vる+ところだった

Explanation:

Almost ~

For example:

もう少しで、遅刻するところだった。
Mou sukoshide, chikoku suru tokoro datta.
It was so close, almost late.

あと少しで、合格するところだったのに…
Ato sukoshide, goukaku suru tokoro datta noni…
Just a little bit more and I could possibly pass, but…

Structure 120 :

Vて+はじめて

Explanation:

Only after ~, Until ~, Not until V
To realize after experiencing something.

For example:

先生に注意されてはじめて、漢字の間違いに気がついた。
Sensei ni chuui sarete hajimete, kanji no machigai ni ki ga tsuita.
It was only after the teacher told me, for the first time, I realized my Kanji mistake.

歌舞伎を見てはじめて、日本文化に興味を持った。
Kabuki o mite hajimete, nihon bunka ni kyoumi o motta.
After watching Kabuki, I started to grow an interest in Japanese culture.

    Like the user hike asked…. there are still remaining grammar structures. Your explanation is ending in week 6 day 3
