JLPT N2 Grammar lesson 2. Hi everyone! In this article, LearnJapanesedaily will introduce to you the JLPT N2 Grammar. Each lesson will consist of about 5 structures for you to learn step by step and have more time to practise.

Structure 6 :

V/ A/ N (Short form) +ものだから/もんだから。


Because I think … to advocate, can be replaced by から

ものだから usually used in writing.

もんだから Used in close relationships.

Do not use imperative verbs behind this structure.

For example:

Can I take my jacket off? Because I’m feeling very hot.

Sorry I’m late, the traffic was bad.

Structure 7 :

V/ A/ N (short form) +もの/もん


It’s because ( legitimate reasons).
Normally put at the end of the sentence, in close relationships, to emphasize the legitimacy of the reasons).
Can be used along with だって to show reasons but more flexible.
Used for both genders, but more likely to be used by women and children.

For example:

I didn’t go to the party because I didn’t know of it.

There is no other way. It’s because he is a kid.

Structure 8 :

V/ A/ N (short form) +ものの


Even though (although) … however
The latter sentence often has a contradictory meaning.

For example:

Even though I had a driver’s license, I never drive.

Even though I have signed up, I still don’t know if I will participate in the exam.

Structure 9 :

Nは もとより ~も


Even … let alone
Used to talk about obvious things, facts first to mention other things at the lower level later.

For example:

My family doesn’t even have a bicycle, let alone a car.

Even fried lettuce is delicious, let alone salad.

Structure 10 :



Might not be N1 but it’s definitely N2
To cast N1 aside to emphasize the importance of N2.

For example:

My mom’s food might not look good but it takes good.

That actress may not look great but her acting skills are amazing.
