Meaning and how to use :
Describe the meaning “If someone says something…”. The following part of the sentence comes with the behavior that repeats many times of a person. We can also say「なにかにつけて」.
Example:
彼は何かと言うと自分の長所を言ってばかりいます。
Kare ha nanka to iuto jibun no chousho wo ittebakariimasu.
If he talks about something, he always talks about his strong points.
両親は何かと言うと私の小さいごろの話を話します。
Ryoushin ha nankatoiuto watahsi no chisai goro no hanashi wo hanashimasu.
If my parents talk something, they will talk about my childhood.
あの人は何かと言うとスポーツについて話します。
Anohito ha nanka toiuto supottsu nitsuite hanashimasu.
If he says something, he will talk about sports.
高橋さんは何かと言うとサッカーのことを話します。
Takahashi san ha nankatoiuto sakka- no koto wo hanashimasu.
If Mr. Takahashi says something, he will talk about soccer.
あの子はあんまり同級生と話さない。話すときは何かと言うと勉強のことです。
Ano ko ha anmari doukyuusei to hanasanai. Hanasu toki ha nanka toiuto benkyou no koto desu.
That child doesn’t talk much with classmates. When saying something, he/she will talk about studying.
