Meaning and how to use :
This structure is used when the speaker wants to mention something that he considers it’s more important than the one mentioned before.
For example
この店はサービスはともかく設備やインテリアの配置方がいいです。
Kono mise ha sābisu ha tomokaku setsubi ya interia no haichi kata ga ii desu.
Leave aside the service of this restaurant, facilities and the arrangement of furniture is very nice.
この俳優は声はともかく、出演技術がすばらしいので人気がある。
kono haiyuu ha koe ha tomokaku, shutsuen gijutsu ga subarashii node ninki ga aru.
No need to discuss about the voice, this actor has a wonderful acting skill, so he’s loved very much.
この服は原料はともかく、値段が安いだけですぐに買いたいです。
kono fuku ha genryou ha tomokaku, nedan ga yasui dake de sugu ni kai tai desu.
Not to mention the material, this clothing was so cheap, so I wanted to by it immediately.
