Usage 1
Describe the meaning “only N1 or N2 is appropriate”.

Examples

暇な日は土曜日か木曜日でいいです。
Himana hi wa doyoubi ka mokuyoubide iidesu.
It’s fine on my free days like Saturday or Thursday.

私か田中さんかこの仕事を引き受ける能力がある。
Hisoka tanaka san Kako no shigoto wo hikiukeru nouryoku ga aru.
Only I or Mr. Tanaka have the ability to take on this job.

行くか行かないかどうでもいい。
Iku ka ikanai ka dou demo ii.
It does not matter whether you go or not.

Note: In the case of adjectives and verbs, it can be used in combination with a negative form. In addition, it is also possible to list more than two things.

Usage 2
Combination:Nか+question words+か
It shows the main things to be an example or to make choices.

Examples

お土産は帽子か何かにしましょう。
Omiyageha boushi ka nanika ni shimashou.
Souvenir can be a hat or something else.

チームのリーダーは佐藤さんかだれか任せよう。
Chiimu no riidaa wa Sato san ka dare ka makaseyou.
Let’s leave the leader position of the team to Sato or someone.

北海道かどこか遠くのところに行きたい。
Hokkaidou ka doko ka touku no tokoro ni ikitai.
I want to go somewhere far away like Hokkaido.
