A paragraph about your day in Japanese

The writing level of the paragraph below is equivalent to the writing level of junior high school students in Japan. It has about 750 words.

Opening

「起きてる?」うなずきながら時計を見ると、いつもよりもやや遅かった。
“Oki teru?” Unazukinagara tokeiwomiru to, itsumo yori mo yaya osokatta.
I looked at the watch while nodding “Am I awake?”, it was a bit later than usual.

ヤバいと思いながらも、着替えの制服をぼんやりと見つめ、二度時計を見た。
Yabai to omoinagara mo, kigae no seifuku wo bonyari to mitsume, nido tokei o mita.
Although I thought I was in trouble, I stared blankly at the uniform and looked at the watch again.

もう八時だった。
Mou hachi-ji datta.

Body

急いで一階に行くと、母は妹を小学校に送るために、いなかった。
Isoide ikkai ni iku to, haha wa imouto wo shougakkou ni okuru tame ni, inakatta.
When I went hurriedly to the first floor, my mother wasn’t there because she sent my younger sister to the elementary school.

急いで朝ごはんのお餅を食べ、ESOLの宿題の本読みを済ませ、歯磨きをしに二階へ戻った。
Isoide asa gohan no o mochi wo tabe, ESOL no shukudai no honyomi wo sumase, hamigaki wo shi ni ni-kai e modotta.
I ate rice cakes for breakfast quickly, finished reading ESOL’s homework and returned to the second floor to brush my teeth.

学校は始まる時刻が遅いから、家は八時四十五分に出る。
Gakkou wa hajimaru jikoku ga osoikara, ie wa hachiji yonjuugo fun ni deru.
Because the school starts late, I leave home at 8:45.

コミュニティーセンターでバスが来るのを待ち、押し合いながらも何とか席に付くと、とても危ないアメリカ人の運転で学校まで行く。
Komyunitiisentaa de basu ga kuru no wo machi, oshi ainagara mo nantoka seki ni tsuku to, totemo abunai amerikahito no unten de gakkou made iku.
I wait for the bus at the community center, I get to the seat while jostling, then I go to school with the very dangerous driving of an American driver.

ドライバーの人に「ありがとう。」と言いながらバスを下りると、友達が集まって話している。
Doraibaa no hito ni “arigatou.” to iinagara basu wo oriru to, tomodachi ga atsumatte hanashite iru.
When I got off the bus while saying “Thank you” to the driver, my friends were gathering and talking.

この集団はESOLという、英語がまだ喋れない人達だ。
Kono shuudan wa ESOL to iu, eigo ga mada shaberenai hitotachida.
This group is called ESOL and it includes people who can’t speak English yet.

キューバやブラジル、コロンビアなどから来ている人が多く、逆にアジア人は私一人だけだ。
Kyuuba ya Burajiru, Koronbia nado kara kite iru hito ga ooku, gyaku ni Ajia hito wa watashihitori dakeda.
There are many people from Cuba, Brazil, Colombia and so on. Conversely, I am the only Asian.

だけど、世間話をするのは、学校の中で一番楽しい事だから、いつも楽しみにしている。
Dakedo, sekenbanashi wo suru no wa, gakkou no naka de ichiban tanoshii kotodakara, itsumo tanoshimini shite iru.
But chatting with everyone is the happiest thing in school, so I’m always looking forward to it.

授業が終わると急いで自分のバスがどこに止まっているのかをさがさなければならない。
Jugyou ga owaru to isoide jibun no basu ga doko ni tomatte iru no ka wo sagasanakereba naranai.
When the class is over, I must find where my bus stops hurriedly.

何故早くしなくてはならないのかというと、最後の授業の先生は意地悪で、なかなか私達を解放してくれないからだ。
Naze hayaku shinakute wa naranai no ka to iu to, saigo no jugyou no sensei wa ijiwaru de, nakanaka watashitachi wo kaihou shite kurenaikarada.
The reason why I must do it quickly is that the teacher in the class is unkind, he won’t release us easily.

無事、コミュニティーセンターに帰ってくると、いつもは迎えに来てくれない母が、珍しく「暑いから。」という理由で来ていた。

When I safely returned to the community center, my mother, who doesn’t usually come to pick me up, came for the reason “Because it’s hot”.

うれしく思いながら車に乗って家まで帰ると、早速パソコンに向かい、メールをチェック。
Ureshiku omoinagara kuruma ni notte ie made kaeru to, sassoku pasokon ni mukai, meeruwo chekku.
I happily got on the car and end when I came home, I immediately headed to my computer and checked mail.

色々な日本の友達がメールしてくれるので楽しみだ。
Iroirona Nihon no tomodachi ga meeru shite kurerunode tanoshimida.
I’m happy because there are many Japanese friends sending mail to me.

今日は特別宿題が少なかったので、コンピューターを沢山やれて、すごくうれしかった。
Kyou wa tokubetsu shukudai ga sukunakattanode, konpyuutaa wo takusan yarete, sugoku ureshikatta.
Because I didn’t have many homework today, I could use computer a little but longer. I was very happy.

夕食を食べながらDVDを見た。
Yuushoku wo tabenagara DVD wo mita.
In the evening, I watched DVD while eating dinner.

「Night at the Museum」は、とても面白くて、笑わないではいられなかった。
“Night at the Museum” wa, totemo omoshirokute, warawanaide wa i rarenakatta.
The movie “Night at the Museum” was very interesting and I couldn’t help laughing.

Ending

今日は、とても平和で楽しい一日だった。毎日金曜だったら夢のようだ。
Kyou wa, totemo heiwa de tanoshii tsuitachidatta. Mainichi kinyoudattara yume no you da.
Today was a very peaceful and happy day. It’s like a dream if every day is Friday.

Note when writing a paragraph about your day

With this topic (writing about your day), you should write about a day that you like best during the week, or a day when there are many special events happened to increase the attractiveness of your paragraph.

Opening: You can describe how you start a new day. Or you can express your feelings and impressions about that day.

Body: Firstly, you should make an outline of all events happened on that day. Next, develop the ideas in the outline into detailed paragraphs. When writing about events happened during the day, you should add your feelings to the events.

Ending: Express your feelings about that day: How do you feel?, What are your impressions of those events?, etc.
