Hi, after taking the JLPT, you usually can check the anwser sheet on Learnjapanesedaily.com (from level N3 to N1, sometimes N4 is also available). Base on the anwser sheet, you can check if the answer you chose is correct or incorrect. But you can’t check the total score you can get. In this post Learn Japanese daily will introduce you the jlpt score distribution for N3.

This distribution is not publiced by the organizers of the JLPT, the Japan Foundation and Japan Educational Exchanges and Services. But it is quite right compared to the result we tested. You can use this to estimate your total score for N3.

Determination of pass/fail for N3

In order to pass, (1) total score needs to be at or above the point required for passing (overall pass mark) and (2) score in each scoring section needs to be at or above the minimum point required for passing (sectional pass mark).

With N3, you need ≥ 95 cores (max is 180 scores. it means you have to get ≥ 53% of max scores

The required sectional pass mark is :

Language Knowledge (Vocabulary/Grammar) ≥ 19. Reading ≥ 19. Listening ≥ 19

If there is even one scoring section where the score is below the sectional pass mark, examinees are determined to have failed, no matter how high the total score he/she might have.

    Sir im dinesh,How many maximum questions must be correct in listening part of N4 to get 19 points?!
    I did Vocabulary and Grammer part very well?…..i checked the answer with some of the question i remembered in 13 questions i get 7 correct and 6 wrong…..how many questions must be correct to get 19 points..?!

    I have 16 over 28 in the listening, am i still gonna pass? Or should it really be a 19?

      if you got 16/28 question with right answers. You may get 30 points or more. It is more than 19 points required, so you can pass if Total score is more than required (90 points). I wil post N4 score distrbution soon !
