JLPT N2 Grammar lesson 10. Hi everyone! In this article, LearnJapanesedaily will introduce to you the JLPT N2 Grammar. Each lesson will consist of about 5 structures for you to learn step by step and have more time to practise.

Structure 46:

Nと/ Vると + ともに

Explanation:

Along with ~

For example:

彼氏とともに幸せな時間を過ごした。
Kareshi to tomoni shiawasena jikan wo sugoshita.
I had a happy time with my boyfriend.

スマホが普及するとともに、手紙を書く人も少なくなった。
Sumaho ga fukyuu suru to tomoni, tegami wo kaku hito mo sukunaku natta.
Along with an increase in smartphone numbers, the number of people writing letters has also decreased.

Structure 47:

Nに/ Vるのに/ Vたのに + ともない/ともなって/ともなうN

Explanation:

At the same time with ~

For example:

人口の増加のともない、資源の消費量も増える。
Jinkou no zouka no tomonai, shigen no shouhiryou mo fueru.
As the population has increased, the consumption has also increased at the same time.

戦争にともなって、多くの人が亡くなった。
Sensou ni tomonatte, ooku no hito ga nakunatta.
Many people died in the war.

自動車が普及するのに伴って、交通事故が増えている。
Jidousha ga fukyuu suru noni tomonatte, koutsuu jiko ga fuete iru.
Traffic accidents are increasing with the spread of automobiles.

Structure 48:

Nに/ Vるに + つれて/つれ

Explanation:

Results in ~
Used to show a relation between two things.

For example:

時が経つにつれて、人の記憶は薄れていく。
Toki ga tatsu ni tsurete, hito no kioku wa usurete iku.
The memories of people fade as time goes by.

彼女は年を取るにつれて、美しくなった。
Kanojo wa toshi wo toru ni tsurete, utsukushiku natta.
She became beautiful as she got older.

町の発展につれて、自然が少なくなった。
Machi no hatten ni tsurete, shizen ga sukunaku natta.
Along with the urbanization advancement, the size of natural land has been decreased.

Structure 49:

Nに/ Vるに + したがって/したがい

Explanation:

According to N/ The more ~ the more

For example:

日が経つにしたがって、病気が悪くなった。
Hi ga tatsu ni shitagatte, byouki ga waruku natta.
As the days go by, my illness has gotten worse.

規則にしたがって行動する。
Kisoku ni shitagatte koudou suru.
To act according to the rules.

Structure 50:

Vる/Vた/Nの + とおり/とおりに/とおりだ/とおりのN

Explanation:

Just like ~

For example:

思ったとおり、彼は日本人だ。
Omotta toori, kare wa Nihonjin da.
Just as I thought, he is Japanese.

地図のとおりに行く。
Chizu no toori ni iku.
To go according to the map.

希望どおり。
Kibou doori.
Just as desired.
