JLPT N2 Grammar lesson 9. Hi everyone! In this article, LearnJapanesedaily will introduce to you the JLPT N2 Grammar. Each lesson will consist of about 5 structures for you to learn step by step and have more time to practise.

Structure 41:

(ただ)Vる + ばかりだ/のみだ。


Only ~

For example:

Jiko ga nai youni to tada inoru bakarida.
I only pray there won’t be any mishaps.

Ima wa tada shiai no kekka wo matsu nomida.
Now we can only wait for the result of the match.

Structure 42:



To N (not used with わたし)
If looking at the situation from N’s point of view.
Used to guess others’ way of thinking.

For example:

Kare ni shitara, kono shitsumon wa muzukashikunai darou.
This question wouldn’t be difficult for him.

Gakusei ni sureba, jugyou jikan ga nagakereba nagai hodo taihen darou.
To students, the longer the class time, the more they will get tired.

Structure 43:

V/A/N (short form) と+ したら/すれば


Suppose that/ if.

For example:

Moshi, koko de yuumeina haiyuu ni deatta to shitara, doushimasuka.
What would you do if you met a famous actor here?

Kanojo no hanashi ga hontou da to sureba, taihen desu.
If her story is true, that’s really serious.

Structure 44:

V/ A/ N (short form) +としても/としたって


Even if/ Even when (still won’t affect the latter clause).

For example:

Kare ga kanemochi da to shite mo, watashi wa kare kara okane wo karitakunai.
Even if he is rich, I don’t want to borrow money from him. 

Ima kara iku to shite mo, maniawanai.
Even if we go right now, we won’t be in time.  

Structure 45:

N1をN2と してV/するN/したN


As a ~

For example:

Watashitachi wa kono heya wo daidokoro to shite tsukaimasu.
We use this room as a kitchen.

Ningyo wo teema to shita shousetsu wo yonda koto ga aru.
I have read a novel about mermaids before.

Yamada-san wo riidaa to suru saakuru wo tsukuru.
We have established a club with Tanaka as the manager.
