JLPT N2 Grammar lesson 9. Hi everyone! In this article, LearnJapanesedaily will introduce to you the JLPT N2 Grammar. Each lesson will consist of about 5 structures for you to learn step by step and have more time to practise.

Structure 41:

(ただ)Vる + ばかりだ/のみだ。


Only ~

For example:

Jiko ga nai youni to tada inoru bakarida.
I only pray there won’t be any mishaps.

Kaiketsusaku wa nai, tada nintai arinomida.
There is no resolution, I can only accept it.

Structure 42:



To N (not used with わたし)
If looking at the situation from N’s point of view.
Used to guess others’ way of thinking.

For example:

Ooki sugiru oya no kitai wa, kodomo ni shitara kutsuuda.
Parents’ high expectations, to kids, is a burden.

Inu ya neko wa kawaii ga, katte inai hito ni sureba meiwakuna koto mo aru.
Dogs or cats are all cute, but to those who don’t raise pets, they can be troublesome.

Structure 43:

V/A/N (short form) と+ したら/すれば


Suppose that/ if.

For example:

Moshi, sore ga hontouda to shitara, yume no you desu.
If that’s true then it’s like a dream.

Ano hito ga ima mo ikite iru to sureba, mou 90-sai ni natte iru deshou.
Suppose that that person is still alive, they must be 90 years old now.

Structure 44:

V/ A/ N (short form) +としても/としたって


Even if/ Even when (still won’t affect the latter clause).

For example:

Iku to shitemo, ryokousha to shite shika ikenai.
Even if I go, I can only go as a tourist.

Makete kuyashii no wa, senshu dakedenaku kantoku no shitemo onajida.
It’s a shame when losing a game not only for the players but even the coach too.

Structure 45:

N1をN2と してV/するN/したN


As a ~

For example:

Kono matsuri wa, juumin no shakai sanka o mokuteki to shite hajimerareta.
THe festival was opened for the folks to participate in the society.

Yamada-san o riidaa to suru saakuru o tsukuru.
We have established a club with Tanaka as the manager.

Kankyou mondai o teema to shita terebi bangumi o miru.
I’m watching a environment programme on TV.
