Japanese JLPT N5 vocabulary 2 – Explaination
16. あに(ani) : (my) older brother. あに is use when speaker want to talk about her/his older brother. When we want to talk about other’s older brother we use : おにいさん. We can use わたしの/わたしたちの before あに or not, the meaning is still the same. Example : (わたしの/わたしたちの) あにはいしゃです。 My older brother is a doctor.
17. あね(ane) : (my) older sister. あね is use when speaker want to talk about her/his older brother. When we want to talk about other’s older sister we use : おねえさん. We can use わたしの/わたしたちの before あね or not, the meaning is still the same. Example : (わたしの/わたしたちの) あねは大学でべんきょうしています. My older sister is studying in university.
18. アパート(apaato) : apartment. Example : このアパートにすんでいます。I am living in this apartment.
19. あびる(abiru) : bathe/ have a bath. Example : シャワーをあびる。 Take a shower.
20. あぶない(abunai) : Dangerous. Example : このところはとてもあぶないですよ。 This place is very dangerous.
21. あまい(amai) : Sweet (adj). Example : このりょうりはあまいですね。This Dish/Meal is sweet.
22. あめ(ame) : Rain (n). Kanji ：雨. Example : 雨がふっています。the rain is falling (it is raining)
23. あらう(arau) : Wash. Example : 手をあらう。wash hands.
24. あるく(aruku) : walk. Example : こうえんであるく。Walk in park
25. いい/よい(ii/yoi) : good, fine. Example : そのえいがはいいですね。That film is good, isn’t it!
26. いう(iu) : Speak/ say. Kanji：言う. Example : あなたは何をいいましたか。What did you say?
27. いえ(ie) : house. Kanji ：家. Example : わたしの家はがっこうにちかいです。 My house is near school
28. いく/ゆく(iku/yuku) : go. Kanji ：行く. いく is usually go with に or へ to tell the direction : heading to… Example : がっこうへいく。 Go to school.
29. いけ(ike) : Pond. Example : このいけはちいさいですね。This pond is so small
30. いしゃ(isha) : Doctor (in hospital. Example : わたしはいしゃです。 I am a doctor
