Meaning and how to use :
To express regret of the speaker that in reality things are the oppisite of expections. Often used under 「こんなはずではなかった」、「はずではなかったのに」. Translated as “Can’t…/ Can’t be…”
Examples:
あの子はいい子だとほめられているので、でたらめな言葉でおれとと話すはずではなかったんけど…
Ano ko ha ii ko da to homerare te iru node, detarame na kotoba de ore to to hanasu hazu de ha nakatta n kedo?
