Meaning and how to use :
Describe the meaning: “mean”, “so”, “the reason is..”. This is a form that adds という to the two uses of わけだ
1. Describe natural result of an action, event. Usually used with 「ので」、「だから」、「から」…
For example
最近いろいろな体操をしています。体がよくなるわけだ。
Saikin iroiro na taisou o shi te i masu. Karada ga yoku naru wake da.
I have done excersise very much recently, so my health is better.
あの子は一生懸命勉強したので、上手になって、有名な大学に合格したわけだよ。
ano ko ha isshoukenmei benkyou shi ta node, jouzu ni natte, yuumei na daigaku ni goukaku shi ta wake da yo.
This child tried really hard to study well, so he did pass a famous university
さっき彼女は奇麗だとほめられました。喜んでいるわけだ。
sakki kanojo ha kirei da to homerare mashi ta. Yorokon de iru wake da.
She was praised for being beautiful, so she was happy
2. Describe things that can be replaced by another. Means “In other words”. Usually used with 「つまり」、「要するに」、「すなわち」、「言いかえれば」
For example
金曜日は授業が休み、月曜日は祝日だ。つまり、4連休というわけだ。
kinyoubi ha jugyou ga yasumi, getsuyoubi ha shukujitsu da. Tsumari, 4 renkyuu toiu wake da.
Friday is a dayoff and next monday is holiday. In other words, we have 4 dayoffs.
ほかの暇な日がないですよ。つまり、今日だけ会えますよ。
hoka no hima na hi ga nai desu yo. Tsumari, kyou dake ae masu yo.
I have no more free time. In other words, I can meet you today only.
彼女は6歳の時、有名な絵をかく試合で勝ちますよ。つまり、彼女は幼い時から絵が上手だよ。
kanojo ha 6 sai no toki, yuumei na e o kaku shiai de kachi masu yo. Tsumari, kanojo ha osanai toki kara e ga jouzu da yo.
She won the draw competition when she was 6. In other words, she was good at drawing when she was a child.
