Meaning and how to use :
Describe the meaning “reached the point”. It is often used to describe extreme cases. The back part of the sentence comes with words like「ようやく/やっと/初めて」.
Example:
1. 最後の段階にいたって、最初の段階から間違ったことに気をつけました。
Saigo no kaidan ni itattem saisho no kaidan kara machigatta koto ni ki wo tsukemashita.
At the last stage, I realized I was wrong from the beginning.
2. 親に叱られるにいたって、自分の悪いところが分かりました。
Oya ni shikarareru ni itatte, jibun no warui tokoro ga wakarimashita.
As I was scolded by my parents, I became aware of my bad point.
3. 治れないにいたって自分の病状に気をつけたので遅かった。
Naorenai ni itatte jibun no byoujou ni ki wo tsuketa node osokatta.
I was late in noticing my medical condition that it couldn’t be treated.
4. なくなったにいたって携帯電話の大切さを気付きました。
Nakunatta ni itatte keitaidenwa no taisetsu sa wo kizukimashita.
I realized the importance of mobile phones as I lost it.
5. 森が破壊されるにいたって皆が大きい危機に面した。
Mori ga hakaisareru ni itatte mina ga ookii kiki ni menshita.
Everyone faced the great crisis as the forest was destroyed.
