JLPT N5 Grammar lesson 11. Hi everyone! In this article, Learn Japanese daily will introduce to you the JLPT N5 Grammar. Each lesson will consist of about 5 structures for you to learn step by step and have more time to practise.

Grammar structure 51 :

~も~ない

Formation :

Vても+Vない
Aい (minus い)+くても+Vない
Aな (minus な)+でも+ Vない
N+も+Vない

Explanation :

Even though….will not….

Examples and examples’ meaning :

1.寒(さむ)くてもコートを着(き)ない。
Even though I’m cold, I still won’t wear a jacket.

2.何度(なんど)も、成功(せいこう)しない。
No matter how many times I try, there is still no success.

Grammar structure 52 :

~もう~ました

Formation :

Conjugating verbs in the past tense:

Vます (minus ます) + ました
For example, 行きます→行きました
食べます→食べました

Explanation :

Already did something.
Used to describe a completed action.

Examples and examples’ meaning :

1.もう食(た)べました。
I already ate.

2.もう宿題(しゅくだい)を忘(わす)れました
I already forgot about the homework.

Grammar structure 53 :

~や~など~

Formation :

N1やN2やN3….など~

Explanation :

such as…and
This pattern is used to list out nouns of the same group with particle など
Used to show that there are more thing apart from the aforementioned thing.

Examples and examples’ meaning :

1.かばんの中(なか)に本(ほん)やノートなどがあります。
There are books and notebooks in the bag.

2.引(ひ)き出(だ)しの中(なか)にはさみやナイフなどがある。
There are things such as scissors or knives in the drawer.

Grammar structure 54 :

~より~

Formation :

N1はN2より~

Explanation :

In comparison with…

Examples and examples’ meaning :

1.中国(ちゅうごく)は韓国(かんこく)より大(おお)きいです。
China is larger than Korea.

2.冬(ふゆ)は秋(あき)より寒(さむ)いです。
Winter is colder than fall.

Grammar structure 55 :

~ることがある

Formation :

Vることがある

Explanation :

Sometimes, from time to time…
Used to describe something that doesn’t happen frequently, rather only once in a while.

Examples and examples’ meaning :

1.ふるさとへ帰(かえ)ることがある。
Sometimes I visit my hometown.

2.風(かぜ)を引(ひ)くことがある。
Sometimes I catch a flu.

    some transaltion are missing in the examples (i.e. example of grammar structure 6),
    and some other are WRONG (example of grammar structure 9: 行きます = I go (usually) and not I went).
    Very bad!!!

    A list of little grammar structures is indeed very helpful to study o/

    Just in the phrase 木の下に猫がいった, i think it translates to “There ‘was’ a cat under the tree”

    Thanks for the lesson, very useful for me.

    Just a little thing, in the grammar structure 1, example 2
    先生 の 英語 あもりがわからない
    Sensei no eigo a mori ga wakaranai means “i don’t understand the english teacher”
