Meaning and how to use :

Expressing the meaning “like N”. This structure is used to show an example like N2 to visualize N2.

Examples:

あの人は家の柱みたいな高い人だ。
Ano hito wa ie no hashira mitaina takai hitoda.
That person is as tall as a house’s pillar.

この和食はタイ料理みたいな味がする。
Kono washoku wa Tai ryouri mitaina aji ga suru.
This Japanese dish tastes like Thai food.

僕は今日のみたいな穏やかな日が大好きです。
Boku wa kyou no mitaina odayakana hi ga daisukidesu.
I like the peaceful days like today.

彼は相撲のみたいな太っている人だ。
Kare wa sumou no mitaina futo tte iru hitoda.
He is as fat as Sumo.

あの子はプロ野球選手のみたいな子だ。
Anoko wa puroyagu senshu no mitaina koda.
That kid is like a professional baseball player.

Note: Can change to the way of saying「NのようなN」 . There are many people mistaking for 「N ら し い N」. 「N み た い な N」 only gives one thing with the same characteristics as an example.
