Formation :

Vます(ます)+なさい

Meaning and how to use :

Describe commands or instructions. People with high position (parents, teachers) use this structure to talk with people with lower position (children, students). However, it can also be used between people who have close relationship (between family members or friends).

Example:

早く寝なさい。
Hayaku nenasai.
Go to bed early.

宿題をやりなさい。
Shukudai wo yarinasai.
Do the homework.

この質問を答えなさい。
Kono shitsumon wo kotaenasai.
Answer this question.

画面に注意しなさい。
Gamen ni chuuishinasai.
Pay attention to the screen.

ちょっと用事がありますから、出かけなさい。
Chotto youji ga arimasukara, dekakenasai.
I have some business, so leave this place.

Note:「ごめんなさい」 is a way to apologize intimately. 「おやすみなさい」 is a greeting before going to bed.
