Meaning and how to use :
Expresses “If not …. something bad will happen”. This structure is to urge somebody to do something or suggest that the listener should do it early.
For example
自分でチャンスを取らないと職業が出来ないよ。
jibun de chansu wo tora nai to shokugyou ga deki nai yo
If you don’t seize your opportunities, you can’t get a job.
早く寝ないと、はやく明日起きられないよ。
hayaku ne nai to hayaku asu oki rare nai yo
If you don’t go to bed early, you can’t get up early.
親の教訓を気にならないといい人にならない。
oya no kyoukun wo ki ni nara nai to ii hito ni nara nai
