Meaning and how to use :
Expresses the meaning “try something”. It’s used to encourage, advise the other to do something.
For example
他の人に聞いたらどうか。
ta no hito ni kii tara dou ka
Try asking others.
そのところに行って見学したらどうか。
sono tokoro ni itu te kengaku shi tara dou ka
How about going there for study obversation?
そのとおりにやったらどうか。
sono tohri ni yatu tara dou ka
Why don’t we do it like that?
前に連絡したらどうか。
zen ni renraku shi tara dou ka
How about contacting in advance?
そのレストランに一度行ったらどうか。
sono resutoran ni ichido itu tara dou ka
Let’s go to that restaurant once.
Note: Usually in form:「Vてみたらどうか」. 「たらどうか」corresponding with 「てはどうか」, but it’s used mostly in spoken language. In intimate conversations, women use 「たらどうなの/どうかしら」 , men use「たらどうなんだ」 .
