Meaning and how to use :
This is a humble way of speaking that describe the meaning “a person whose position is higher than the speaker does something for you…”.
Example:
ここにお名前やご住所をご記入いただいてください。
Kokoni onamae ya gojusho wo go kinyuu itadaitekudasai.
Please fill in your name and address here.
社長は私にお電話いただきました。
Shachou ha watashi ni odenwa itadakimashita.
The president called me on the phone.
今日お歌いいただく歌手は高橋歌手です。
Kinou outai itadaku kahsu ha takahashi kashu desu.
The singer who sings today is Takahashi.
早く車にお乗りいただいてください。
Hayaku kuruma ni onori itadaitekudasai.
Please get in the car as soon as possible.
社長はもうこの資料をご確認いただきました。
Shachou ha mou kono shiruou wo go kakunin itadaki mashita.
The manager has already confirmed this document.
Note: This structure is similar to 「ていただく」, but it is more polite. In case of using with Chinese-Japanese nouns, we use the form「ごNいただく」. But if it is 「電話する」, we use the form「お電話いただく」.
