Meaning and how to use :
1. Describe the higher level or a state of continuity. Can also used to contrast the two clauses and can be translated as “In contrast..”.
Examples:
私と打ち明けたら、尚気分がよくなるでしょう。
Watashi to uchiake tara, nao kibun ga yoku naru desho u.
If you confide with me, maybe you will feel even better.
手術を受けたあと、尚病状が悪くなった。
Shujutsu o uke ta ato, nao byoujou ga waruku natta.
After surgery, the condition got worse.
注意されても、彼女は尚ばかばかしいことをしている。
Chuui sare te mo, kanojo ha nao bakabakashii koto o shi te iru.
Even though she was warned, she still continued doing stupid things.
Japanese 尚 なお grammar nao
2. Used to add informations/conditions/exceptions that is/are related to the previous sentence.
Can also be used with the meaning “but” to indicate otherwise than the prediction from the preceding sentence. This form is used in writing such as posters, announcements, dissertations.
Examples:
この試合に申し込むとき、履歴書を提出してください。なお、参加費も提出してください。
Kono shiai ni moushikomu toki, rireki sho o teishutsu shi te kudasai. Nao, sanka hi mo teishutsu shi te kudasai.
