Meaning and how to use :
1. Not only…but also… The first clause mention a gentle action, state and the second clause mention higher level one.
For example
この子は5歳なのに英語ばかりか日本語も話せますよ。
Kono ko ha 5 sai na noni eigo bakari ka nihongo mo hanase masu yo.
This child is just 5 and he can not only speak English but also speak Vienamese.
私は3か月その方法の通りにダイエットをした。結局はやせたばかりか体も元気になったよ。
watashi ha 3 kagetsu sono houhou no toori ni daietto o shi ta. Kekkyoku ha yase ta bakari ka karada mo genki ni natta yo.
I have been following this method for 3 months. I get not only thinner but also healthier
わが上司は仕事をしないばかりか、いつも部下の成績に自分の物にします。ずるい人だ。
waga joushi ha shigoto o shi nai bakari ka, itsumo buka no seiseki ni jibun no mono ni shi masu. Zurui hito da.
My boss not only refuses to work but also takes over employees’ result. What a artful person!
2.そればかりか
The same with the first usage.
For example
隣の人の娘さんはとても奇麗です。そればかりか、いい仕事がありますよ。
tonari no hito no musume san ha totemo kirei desu. Sore bakari ka, ii shigoto ga ari masu yo.
My neighbor’s daughter is not only very beautiful but also has a good job.
この携帯電話は軽いです。そればかりか、デザインもいいですね。
kono keitai denwa ha karui desu. Sore bakari ka, dezain mo ii desu ne.
This mobile phone is not only light but also well designed.
彼は勉強がうまいですね。そればかりか、スポーツも上手ですよ。
kare ha benkyou ga umai desu ne. Sore bakari ka, supōtsu mo jouzu desu yo.
He’s not only good at studying but also sport.
Note: In the first use, If we use Vない+ばかりか…も/ばかりか…までit means a bad thing (example 3)
