Meaning and how to use :

Describe the meaning “You can’t do it even if you want to do it” or “there’s no way to do it”.

Example:

友達と遊びに行こうにも時間がないのでいけない。
Tomodachi to asobi ni ikou nimo jikan ga nai node ikenai.
I want to hang out with my friends, but I can’t because I don’t have time.

今体がだるいので仕事をしようにもできない。
Ima karada ga darui node shigoto wo shiyou nimo dekinai.
I’m so sluggish now, so I can’t work even if I want to work.

君に助けようにも今の状況なら助けられない。
Kimi ni tasukeyou nimo ima no joukyou nara tasukerarenai.
Even if I intend to, in this situation, I can’t help you.

今集中できないので勉強しようにも勉強できない。
Ima shuuchuu dekinai node benkyou shiyou nimo benkyou dekinai.
I can’t concentrate now, so even if I want to study, I can’t.

能力がないのでやってみようにもやれない。
Nouryoku ga nainode yattemiyounimo yarenai.
Because I don’t have the ability, I can’t do it even if I want to try doing it.
