Used when we draw a conlusion without explaining specifically
For example
A:「今、ちょっと急用がありまして…」
ima chotto kyuuyou ga ari mashi te
B:「つまり、何が言いたいの」
tsumari nan ga ii tai no
A: “I’m on urgent business now…”
B: “So what do you wanna say?”
わたしが聞きたいことは、つまり、今度のミスは私のせいだけじゃなくて、他の人も間違ったのよ。
watashi ga kiki tai koto ha tsumari kondo no misu ha watakushi no sei dake ja naku te ta no hito mo machigatu ta no yo
What I want to hear is that, in the end, this mistake was not only my fault but everyone’s as else.
A:「今、ちょっと忙しいんですが…」
ima chotto isogashii n desu ga
B:「つまり、私と一緒に行きたくないでしょ」
tsumari watakushi to issho ni iki taku nai desho
A: “I’m on urgent business now…”

tsumari ano hito ha watakushi tachi to meru de yokoshi taku nai
In other words, that person doesn’t want to email us.
Note: We can use 「結局」、「要するに」 to replace it.
