3. Grammar
~ んです。
Usage :
Emphasize cause, reason, evidence
Express interest in the partner.
Confirm the information, express the guess of the speaker based on some evidence.
Use in spoken language to acquaintances.
V/Adj/N な in plain form + んです。
Example:
どうしておくれたんですか
Doushite okuretan desuka
Why are you so late?
。。。バスが来なかったんです。
Basu ga kona kattandesu.
Because the bus didn’t come.
～Vていただけませんか。
Meaning : Can you please ~
Usage : Ask for something politely
Use with superiors, strangers
It is more polite than Vてください
Example :
いい先生を紹介していただけませんか。
ii sensei wo shokaishite itadakemasenka.
Would you please introduce me a good teacher?
~ + Vたらいいです。/Interrogative word + Vたらいいですか。
Meaning : It would be good if ~ /What should I do?, etc.
Usage : Use to ask for or give advice
Question : Interrogative word + Vたらいいですか。
Example :
どこでカメラを買ったらいいですか
Doko de kamera wo kattara ii desuka.
Where should I buy a camera?
4. Kaiwa
どこに ごみを出したら いいですか。
doko ni gomi o dashi tara ii desu ka.
管理人： ミラーさん、引っ越しの 荷物は 片付きましたか。
mira san, hikkoshi no nimotsu ha kataduki mashi ta ka.
ミラー： はい、だいたい 片付きました。
hai, daitai kataduki mashi ta.
ミラー： あのう、ごみを 捨てたいんですが、どこに出したら いいですか。
ano u, gomi o sute tain desu ga, doko ni dashi tara ii desu ka.
管理人： 燃える ごみは 月・水・金の 朝 出して ください。
moeru gomi ha tsuki. mizu. kin no asa dashi te kudasai.
管理人： ごみ置き場は 駐車場の 横です。
gomi okiba ha chuusha jou no yoko desu.
ミラー： 瓶や 缶は いつですか。
bin ya kan ha i tsu desu ka.
管理人： 燃えない ごみは 土曜日です。
moe nai gomi ha doyoubi desu.
ミラー： はい、わかりました。それから、お湯が 出ないんですが・・・。
hai, wakari mashi ta. sorekara, oyu ga de nain desu ga….
管理人： ガス会社に 連絡したら、すぐ 来て くれますよ。
gasu kaisha ni renraku shi tara, sugu ki te kure masu yo.
ミラー： ・・・困ったなあ。電話が ないんです。
… komatta naa. denwa ga nain desu.
ミラー： すみませんが、連絡して いただけませんか。
sumimasen ga, renraku shi te itadake masen ka.
管理人： ええ、いいですよ。
ee, ii desu yo.
ミラー： すみません。 お願いします。
sumimasen. onegai shi masu.
Translation:
Where should I take out the garbage?
The manager: Mr. Miller, have you arranged the luggage?
Miller: Yes, I have almost finished.
Well, I would like to throw away the garbage, where should I take out?
The manager: Please take out the burnable garbage on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
The garbage depot is next to the parking lot.
Miller: When do I take out bottles and cans?
The manager: And please take out the unburnable garbage on Saturday.
Miller: Yes, I got it. And there is no hot water…..
The manager: If you contact the gas company, they will come to help you soon.
Miller: …I’m in trouble. I don’t have phone. Excuse me, but can you contact them for me?
The manager: Yeah, that’s fine
