Expresses the meaning “On the occasion”, “when”
Examples:
中学時代の先生にお会いした折に、将来のことにアドアイスをたくさんもらいました。
Chuugaku jidai no sensei ni o aishi ta ori ni, shourai no koto ni ado aisu o takusan morai mashi ta.
On the occasion of visitting my junior high school teacher, I got a lot of advices regarding my future.
山田様お宅にご訪問になった折に、私は名物を差し上げました。
Yamada sama o taku ni go houmon ni natta ori ni, watashi ha meibutsu o sashiage mashi ta.
On the occasion Mr. Yamada visitting my house, I gifted him a lot of gifts.
アメリカ大統領は来日の折に、私は美景にご案内いたします。
Amerika daitouryou ha rainichi no ori ni, watashi ha bikei ni go annai itashi masu.
On the occasion of the president of the United State visitting Japan, I introduced many beautiful landscapes.
帰国する折に、彼に会いました。
Kikoku suru ori ni, kare ni ai mashi ta.
When I was coming back to my home country, I met him.
会議の折の大切なことはつい忘れてしまいました。
Kaigi no ori no taisetsu na koto ha tsui wasure te shimai mashi ta.
