Meaning and how to use :
Describe an evaluation on something. Means “seem to be…rather than…”
For example
彼は歩くというより走るの方が正しいだ。
Kare wa aruku to iu yori hashiru no hō ga tadashii da.
He seems running rather than walking
あのプロジェックトを社長に頼まれて、というより命令されたんだよ。
ano purojekkuto o shachō ni tanomare te, to iu yori meirei sare ta n da yo.
we are commanded to carry out that project rather than be had do it.
僕は親友というより兄弟のようですよ。
boku wa shinyū to iu yori kyōdai no yō desu yo.
We are like siblings rather than best friends.
彼女のことが愛するというより、好きだけですよ。
kanojo no koto ga aisuru to iu yori, suki dake desu yo.
I like her rather than love her.
あの子は奇麗というより、可愛いですよ。
ano ko wa kirei to iu yori, kawaii desu yo.
