To express the feeling of concern that an unexpected thing is going to happen. Often used for actions with the motive of the speaker.
Examples:
怒る時、子供を殴ってしまうそうだ。
Okoru toki, kodomo o nagutte shimau sou da.
I might just hit my child when I’m angry.
私の荷物はここに置いたら忘れてしまうそうだ。
Watashi no nimotsu ha koko ni oi tara wasure te shimau sou da.
