Meaning and how to use :
Describe the meaning “no chance…/ impossible to happen…”. It’s used to indicate an event that impossible according to the speaker.
For example
元々あの賞品は私のです。彼にはもらえっこない。
Motomoto ano shouhin ha watashi no desu. Kare ni ha mora ekko nai.
Originally it was mine. He can not get it.
今日中にそんなに長い文章を書くなんてできっこない。
kyou chuu ni sonnani nagai bunshou o kaku nante de kikko nai.
Writing such a long text within a day is impossible.
こんなに高いテレビ、私がほしいですが買えっこない。
konnani takai terebi, watashi ga hoshii desu ga kae kko nai.
This TV is too expensive that I can not afford to buy it.
あの先生はとても厳しいです。試験中カンニングなんかできっこない。
ano sensei ha totemo kibishii desu. Shiken chuu kanningu nanka de kikko nai.
That teacher is very strict. We have no chance to treat at exam.
この曲は歌手でも難しく感じます。アマな僕は歌えっこない。
kono kyoku ha kashu demo muzukashiku kanji masu. Ama na boku ha uta ekko nai.
That song is difficult for even singers. A non-professional like me can not sing it.
Note:
+) This way of saying is mostly in close or intimate relationships. Not used in writings.
+) できっこない is the commonly used form.
