Vることなしに

Meaning and how to use :

Expresses the meaning “If ignore the previous clause, the latter clause can’t be done/ The latter clause is not possible if the former clause is not done.” Often translated as “without.. , I couldn’t/wouldn’t..”.

Examples:

何度も失敗することなしに成功はありません。
Nan do mo shippai suru koto nashi ni seikou ha ari mase n.
Without many failures, there will be no success.

彼女がいることなしに一日も幸せに過ごせないだろう。
Kanojo ga iru koto nashi ni ichi nichi mo shiawase ni sugose nai daro u.
Without her, I can’t live happily for even one day.

彼が助けることなしに私はレポートが完全にできない。
Kare ga tasukeru koto nashi ni watashi ha repōto ga kanzen ni deki nai.
Without his help, I couldn’t have done the report.

アルバイトをすることなしに貴重な経験が得られない。
Arubaito o suru koto nashi ni kichou na keiken ga erare nai.
Without having part-time jobs, I couldn’t have had these valuable experiences.

昔ちゃんと外国を勉強することなしに今、いい仕事が見つけられないだろう。
Mukashi chanto gaikoku o benkyou suru koto nashi ni ima, ii shigoto ga mitsukerare nai daro u.
If I didn’t learn foreign languages carefully, I wouldn’t have been able to find good job now.
