Formation :

N (time/ range/number of time / place,..) + にわたり

Meaning and how to use :

Describe the prolongation, covering of time and space

for example

Nigatsu niwatari, kare ni ae mase n deshi ta.
I couldn’t meet him for 2 month

isshuu niwatari, toukyou de ame ga furu.
It has rained in Tokyo for a week

chichi ga nakunattan. Ichi nichi niwatari, nai te i mashi ta
I have cried the whole day because of my father’s death

kono kenchikuka ha, ichi nen niwatari, sono shiroi tatemono o kenzou shi mashi ta
This architect has built this white building in one year

osanai toki niwatari, watashi ha kurou shi te, shiawase na toki chittomo nai.
During my childhood , i got only misery, there was no happy moment.

Chú ý: にわたり has the same meaning with にわたって but にわたって modifies the following verb and にわたり mostly used at the end of the clause
