Meaning and how to use :

Describe the prolonging, covering of time and space

for example

Kaigi niwatatte, kare ha iken mo hitotsu dasa nai
I didn’t give even one opinion in the meeting.

ichi jikan niwatatte mo, kanojo ha damatta mama desu.
She has been keeping silent for an hour.

ashita, kantou chihou niwatatte, yuki ga furu.
Tomorrow, It’s snow in all kantou area

amerika niwatatte, makudōnāru ga ari masu.
McDonald stores spread across the US

osanai toki niwatatte, watashi ha kurou shi te, shiawase na toki chittomo nai.

Note: にわたって is solemn and used in written language
