Meaning and how to use :
It is used to list some of the many things.
Example:
今月は試験やら重要なレポートの締め切りやらで疲れた。
Kongetsu ha shiken yara juuyou na repo-to no shimekiri yara de tsukareta.
This month I was tired from the deadlines of the important reports and the tests.
子供の学費やら生活費やらでいろいろな費を提出しなきゃならない。
Kodomo no gakuhi yara seikatsuhi yara de iroiro na hi wo teishutsu shinakyanaranai.
I have to submit various expenses such as my children’s tuition, living expenses, etc.
かばんの中でペンやらノートやら本やらいろいろなものがあって探しにくい。
Kaban no nakade pen yara no-to yara hon yara iroiro na mono ga atte sagashinikui.
It is difficult to find something in my bag since there are a lot of things in there such as pens, notebooks, books, etc.
授業に遅刻するやらレポートの締め切りを忘れたやら、本当に運が悪い日だ。
Jugyou ni chikokusuru yara repo-to no shimekiri wo wasureta yara, hontou ni un ga warui hi da.
I was late for class and forgot the deadline of the report. It’s a really unlucky day.
帰国する前に、飛行機チケットを買うやらスケジュールを変更するやらで忙しかった。
Kikokusurumaeni, hikouki chiketto wo kau yara sukeju-ru o henkou suru yara de isogashikatta.
Before returning to my country, I was busy with buying the plane ticket and changing the schedule.
Note: This structure is similar to「…や…などいろいろ」、「…たり…たりする」. It is often used to describe the meaning “There are many things happening, so it is very troublesome.”
