Expressing what the speaker said is not very confident about his or her judgment. Often translated as ” will possibly…/might…”
Examples:
もしかしたら彼女は私の名前を忘れたじゃないか。
Moshika shitara kanojo wa watashi no namae wo wasureta janai ka.
Maybe, she already forgot my name?
A:「もしかしたらあの人は有名な野原先生か。」
B：「ううん、違いますよ」
A: `Moshika shitara ano hito wa yuumeina nohara sensei ka.’
B: `uun, chigaimasu yo’
A: “Perhaps that person is the famous teacher, Mr. Nohara.”
B: “No, you’re wrong.”
もしかしたら彼は私の冗談を信じたではないか。
Moshika shitara kare wa watashi no joudan wo shinjitade wanai ka.
Perhaps He believed in my joke, didn’t he?
もしかしたら雨がもうすぐ降るの。
Moshika shitara ame ga mousugu furu no.
It might rain soon.
もうしかしたら山田部長は首になりましたか。
Mou shikashitara Yamada buchou wa kubi ni narimashita ka.
The manager – Yamada is possible to be fired, isn’t he?
