Describe the surprise about something that is different from what you thought. Lower your voice at the end of the sentence.

Example:

Kareshi no koto ga nani mo shiranai noka.
You don’t know anything about your boyfriend, do you?

君、行かないのか。行ったと思ったのに。
Kimi, ikanai noka. Itta to omotta noni.
You haven’t gone yet? I thought you have already gone.

まだレポートを提出しないのか。昨日は締め切りだったよ。
Mada repo-to wo teishutsu shinai noka. Kinou ha shimekiri datta yo.
You haven’t submitted the report yet? Yesterday was the deadline.

もう忘れたのか。何度も注意したのに。
Mou wasureta noka. Nando mo chuui shitanoni.
Did you forget it already? I have reminded you many times.

その話は本当なのか。うそのようですね。
Sono hanashi ha hontou nanoka. Uso no youdesu ne.
Is that story true? Sounds like a lie.
