Meaning and how to use :

This structure is often used as: XはおろかYさえ…ない. Expresses the meaning “X is obvious, even Y isn’t…”.

Examples:

彼女はレーポトはおろかメモさえ取っていません。
Kanojo ha repoto ha orouka memo sae totte i mase n.
of course she didn’t write report as she didn’t write even a note

この事件についての噂が広まったら、お金はおろか名誉もなくなりますよ。
Kono jiken nitsuite no uwasa ga hiromattara, okane ha oroka meiyo mo nakunari masu yo.
If the rumor about this case spreads, we can’t even hold our reputation let alone money.

僕は漢字はおろか仮名さえ書けませんよ。
Boku ha kanji ha oroka kamei sae kake mase n yo.
I can’t even write Kana let alone Kanji.

両親は海外はおろか国内さえ旅行しません。
Ryoushin ha kaigai ha oroka kokunai sae ryokou shi mase n.
My parents haven’t even traveled inside the country, let alone traveling abroad.

寿司は食べることはおろか実際に見たことさえもない。
Sushi ha taberu koto ha oroka jissai ni mi ta koto sae mo nai.
I haven’t seen a sushi, let alone eating it.

あの人とは、話したことはおろか、会ったこともありません
ano hito toha, hanashita kotoha oroka, atta kotomo arimasen
I haven’t met that person let alone having a talk
