Meaning and how to use :

Not only..but also….First clause express natural, obvious event, the second clause means “Even…also..”

Examples :

あの子は絵をかくのはいいばかりでなく、歌うのもうまいです。
Ano ko ha e o kaku no ha ii bakari de naku, utau no mo umai desu.
That child not only draw well but also sing beautifully.

日本人ばかりでなく、世界中の人が地球温暖化問題に関心を持っている。
nipponjin bakari de naku, sekaijuu no hito ga chikyuu ondan ka mondai ni kanshin o motte iru.
Not only Japanese but also people all around the war care about Gloal warming

この番組は面白いばかりでなく、様々なことも学べる。
kono bangumi ha omoshiroi bakari de naku, samazama na koto mo manaberu.
This program is interesting, i also learn many things from it.

彼は町を案内してくれたばかりでなく、この地方の料理もごちそうしてくれた。
kare ha machi o annai shi te kure ta bakari de naku, kono chihou no ryouri mo gochisou shi te kure ta.
He introduce me not only the town but also local cuisins.

日本の春ばかりでなく冬でもきれいな景色だ。
nippon no haru bakari de naku fuyu demo kirei na keshiki da.
It’s beautiful in not only Spring of Japan but also in winter.

Note: Other auxilliaries “まで”、 “さえ”、 “でも” can also replace “も”.
This is formal form. In written language we use “だけじゃなくて”
