Meaning and how to use :
Means “In comparison with…. it’s more..than”
For example
手紙の方が電話よりずっと便利じゃないか。
Tegami no hou ga denwa yori zutto benri ja nai ka.
Phone is obviously more convenient than mail.
英語のほうが日本語より簡単でしょう。
eigo no hou ga nihongo yori kantan desho u.
English is more simpe than Japanese, right.
このかばんの方よりそのかばんは丈夫です。
kono kaban no hou yori sono kaban ha joubu desu.
That bag is stronger than this one.
だれでも走る方が歩くより早いが知っています。
dare de mo hashiru hou ga aruku yori hayai ga shitte i masu.
Everyone knows that running is faster than walking.
力が必要な仕事の方がオンラインの仕事をするをするより楽だ。
chikara ga hitsuyou na shigoto no hou ga onrain no shigoto o suru o suru yori raku da.
Online work is not so hard as physical task.
Note: In some cases “ほうが” and “より” permute the order, the sentence becomes “「…より(も…のほうが)」”.
Sometimes the part “ほうが” or “よりも” is removed.
