Meaning and how to use :
Describe the meaning “use the opportunity…/ the occasion, a change happens”. Usually followed by verbs indicating action.
For example
高校入学を契機に、親を離れて一人で東京に住んでいる。
Koukou nyuugaku o keiki ni, oya o hanare te ichi nin de toukyou ni sun de iru.
Use the opportunity I study in high school, I live alone in Tokyo away from my mother.
戦争を契機にして、この会社はいろいろな利益を得た。
sensou o keiki ni shi te, kono kaisha ha iroiro na rieki o e ta.
On the occasion of war, this bussiness gains much money.
社長は新商品の発売を契機としてわが社の名前を広げている計画がある。
shachou ha shin shouhin no hatsubai o keiki toshite waga sha no namae o hiroge te iru keikaku ga aru.
The director has a plan that on the occasion the new product is released, we promote our company’s name.
Aレストランの募集を契機として、Bレストランは自分の料理を広告する。
A resutoran no boshuu o keiki toshite, B resutoran ha jibun no ryouri o koukoku suru.
Use the opportunity A restaurant’s recruitment, B restaurant advertises their food.
