Meaning and how to use :

Expresses the meaning of “do what you can/ do to the level … then”. The latter clause often expresses the meaning “not expecting to do that at a higher level”.

Examples:

食べるだけは全部食べてください。残らないでください。
Taberu dake ha zenbu tabe te kudasai. Nokora nai de kudasai.
Eat all you can eat. Don’t leave leftovers.

僕はは頼むだけは頼みましたが、彼は助けれるか分からない。
Boku ha ha tanomu dake ha tanomi mashi ta ga, kare ha tasuke reru ka wakara nai.
I asked all I can ask for his help but I don’t know that he would help me.

何が話すだけは全部はなしました。誰が聞きたいことがありますか。
Nani ga hanasu dake ha zenbu ha nashi mashi ta. Dare ga kiki tai koto ga ari masu ka.
I said all what I wanted to say. Anybody has any question?

練習するだけは練習しました。ぜひ明日の試験は高い点を取る。
Renshuu suru dake ha renshuu shi mashi ta. Zehi ashita no shiken ha takai ten o toru.
I studied all I could. I’ll definitely have high grade on the next test tomorrow.

書くだけは全部この手紙に書きました。自分で読んでください。
Kaku dake ha zenbu kono tegami ni kaki mashi ta. Jibun de yon de kudasai.
I wrote all I could on this letter. Read it yourself.
