Meaning and how to use :
What happens in the first part of a sentence is the reason for what happen in the second part. What happen in the second part are often certainties, this structure doesn’t go with judgement.
For example
彼女のことが好きじゃないので、彼女と話さないことにします。
Kanojo no koto ga suki ja nai node, kanojo to hanasa nai koto ni shi masu.
Because I don’t like her, I decided not to talk with her anymore.
日本に留学したいので、日本語を勉強しました。
nippon ni ryūgaku shi tai node, nihongo o benkyō shi mashi ta.
Because I don’t want to study abroad to Japan, I don’t study Japanese.
お父さんが優しいので、あの子はいつも悪い態度をしている。
otōsan ga yasashii node, ano ko wa itsumo warui taido o shi te iru.
That child always show bad attitude because his father is gentle.
今日テストがあるので、昨日の晩勉強して徹夜でした。
kyō tesuto ga aru node, kinō no ban benkyō shi te tetsuya deshi ta.
Today I have a test, so I stayed up late to study.
来週大きな台風が来る予報があるので、今とても心配します。
raishū ōkina taifū ga kuru yohō ga aru node, ima totemo shinpai shi masu.
The weather forecast says that there will be a heavy storm next week, so I’m really worried now.
Note: This structure is usualy used in explaination or reason to refuse.
In intimate speaking it becomes 「んだ」
